Face Guard (Beta) is an application that alerts you whenever your hand gets too close to your face. Many people touch their faces completely unconsciously. While working at a computer, it’s common to rest your head on your hand, scratch your nose, rub your eyes, or touch your skin without even noticing. Besides being a habit, frequent face touching can also contribute to skin irritation and make acne worse.
Since I also spend a lot of time in front of a computer and often caught myself touching my face without realizing it, I decided to create Face Guard to help me become more aware of this habit.
Using your computer’s camera, Face Guard detects the position of your face and hands. When it determines that a hand is approaching your face, it plays a warning sound and displays a notification. The goal of the application is not to prevent every face touch, but simply to make you aware of the habit.
Because Face Guard is built with Flutter, versions for macOS, Android, and the web will are also available!
Privacy
All image processing is performed locally on your device. Video data is never uploaded to the internet, stored, or shared with third parties. Face Guard does not require a user account or an internet connection to function.
